Cosmetic and Non-Surgical Treatment Options in Melbourne
We offer information and consultations across four broad areas: cosmetic surgery, minimally invasive procedures, non-surgical skin and device treatments, and professional skincare. Each one has a different purpose, a different level of risk and recovery, and its own limits. Where you start depends on what’s concerning you, your health and medical history, your anatomy, what you’re hoping for and who would be looking after you.
Understanding Your Surgical and Non-Surgical Options
Cosmetic surgery changes tissue through an operation. It usually involves anaesthesia, a surgical facility, scars and a set recovery period. Minimally invasive and non-surgical treatments may use devices, light, energy, needles or other clinical techniques. These can still cause complications, so they shouldn’t be seen as risk-free alternatives. In your consultation we’ll compare what each option may help with, what it can’t do, the main risks, recovery, and the choice of having no treatment at all.
Facial Surgery and Rejuvenation
For the face, we have separate information on facelift surgery, mini facelift and blepharoplasty, as well as Ultherapy, RF skin tightening, Pixel RF microneedling, IPL and professional skincare. These work on different tissues and aren’t interchangeable. Facial ageing is normal and treatment is always optional. How much change you see, and how long it lasts, varies from person to person.
Women’s Aesthetic Surgery
If you’re an adult woman wanting information about breast implant surgery, labiaplasty or body contouring, you can book a confidential consultation with the doctor or surgeon responsible for that service. We’ll talk with you respectfully and accurately about your anatomy, without comparisons to what’s “normal”, sexualised language or any suggestion that surgery is needed for confidence, relationships or acceptance.
Body Contouring and Fat Reduction
For the body, we offer information on surgical liposuction and on separate non-surgical fat reduction and skin treatments. Liposuction is an operation. Non-surgical treatments work differently and usually give a different degree and pattern of change. Neither is a weight-loss treatment. Whether an option suits you depends on your health, how stable your weight is, your skin quality, where your tissue sits and what you’re realistically hoping for.
Skin Treatments and Professional Skincare
A skin assessment can help work out whether your concern is mainly pigmentation, redness, texture, sensitivity, laxity or general skin care. Options may include professional skincare, IPL, Pixel RF microneedling, facial vessel treatment or another clinically appropriate choice. No treatment can promise flawless, permanently clear or transformed skin.

Dr Tony Prochazka
Over 20 years’ experience in cosmetic medicine and surgery-related procedures, with a focus on breast augmentation, liposculpture, fat transfer, thread lifting, blepharoplasty, facelift and facial rejuvenation.
Former Inaugural Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, and former Vice-President of the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia.

Associate Professor Peter Haertsch AM

Are surgical and non-surgical treatments equivalent?
No. They differ in purpose, how invasive they are, risk, recovery and how much change you might see and for how long. We’ll explain these differences in your consultation.
