Cellulite. The very word strikes fear into the heart of even the trimmest of women. At Aesthetica Melbourne, we have developed a total treatment plan to combat and remove cellulite. In almost every case, a detox and liver cleansing programme is initiated. This aids in the appropriate intake of water on a daily basis, whist ridding the body of entrapped weaste. What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is caused by:
- Toxic accumulation
- Fluid retention

All the muscles of the body are wrapped in a padding of fatty connective tissue. This padding, with its varying thickness, gives the female figure its roundness and soft contour.
The round, fatty cells of the padding, bathed in a liquid medium, are held in place by a network of fibers. Constantly circulating through these are nourishing liquids; water, blood and lymphatic fluid. These liquids carry oxygen and nutrients through the tissues and also cleanse them of waste.
The free flow of liquids assures this process. A change occurs when the waste removal process (circulation) is slowed down in prone areas. The connective tissue (the third layer of skin), an area saturated with water and wastes, thickens, hardens, and forms immovable pockets. These pockets bulge and puff up...This is called Cellulite.
Cellulite is a circulation and edema (water retention) problem rather than an overweight problem. Cellulite is not fat. A person can be thin and have cellulite. Two types of Cellulite
- Hard cellulite – squeeze skin, if there is a ripple and it appears like an orange peel. This is found mostly on women in good physical condition.
- Soft cellulite – more advanced, great mobility, slides easily over the muscle, ripples will be noticed without applying pressure.

- Crash dieting – followed by weight gain

Competing Wraps - Salt solutions, clay and seaweed, and hot oil wraps all promote a poultice effect. Detoxifying and inch loss come from internal to external through the pores as a hydration loss. Unlike the M'lis Program, inches come back when the client drinks water.
- Thigh creams have as their main ingredient aminophyllin, an asthma medication that shrinks mucus membranes. This is a chemical treatment that creates water loss and dehyrdation. The M'lis program does not use chemicals and does not dehydrate the body.
