Carboxytherapy Anti Cellulite
Remove unwanted Cellulite and small fatty deposits.
Everyone...even skinny supermodels...can get cellulite. Although regular exercise, adequate water intake & a low-fat diet are key in eliminating this unsightly problem. At Aesthetica our doctors have developed a new dimple-reducing treatment to help ease the bumpiness in life.

Aesthetica introduces Australia's first truly non invasive treatment system for Cellulite and Fat reduction. The Accent system now completes a total package for treatment of Cellulite.
For further information go to the Accent page in this category.

The philosophy of the Carboxytherapy Cellulite Program
We combine a total treatment plan that prepares your body with a deep tissue lymphatic drainage massage session that takes approximately 90 minutes. Your Aesthetica Remedial Therapist will perform this treatment prior to the first injectable session each week. The massage softens the surrounding muscle fascias to assist in the breakdown of cellulite, whilst the lymphatic drainage re-activates your lymph system.

Your Lymphatic system is your front line of defence in fighting bodily infections, detoxifying the body and transporting metabolic wastes, excess water, bacteria and toxins out of the body.

The Lymph glands (at neck, armpits, groin, etc) are connected by a broad network of vessels which transport the fluid. Muscular movement is required to move it, as there is no 'Heart' to pump it. Lymphatic Drainage, a gentle whole body treatment relaxes the nervous system and aids the body's immune system. With Aesthetica Lymphatic drainage and carboxytherapy programs, patients can expect to see visible results after a series of 6-10 treatments over 3-4 weeks.

How Is Carboxytherapy Performed?
It is a non surgical method. From a cylinder of pure CO2, which is connected to a regulator specially designed for this purpose, the CO2 is injected into the subcutaneous tissue, through a tiny 30g needle (0.3mm). From the place of injection, the CO2 diffuses easily into the adjacent tissues.

What sensation will I experience during the Aesthetica Carboxytherapy treatment? Does it hurt?
During the first three sessions some patients can experience a light burning feeling near the injection site, which disappears in a matter of seconds, as the sessions advance, this sensation decreases. As an expression of the increased circulation, the legs may feel heavy and somewhat warm adjacent to the injection site, where reddening and increased skin temperature may be observed. All these effects disappear in 10 to 15 minutes.

Is there any kind of restriction of activities after the Carboxytherapy?

No, usually patients leave after treatment without any kind of bother and/or restrictions.

How long does Carboxytherapy take?
Between 15 and 20 sessions are necessary, ideally three times per week, although two sessions a week are enough. Each injection session lasts between 10 and 15 minutes. Remember this is combined with one weekly massage session of 90 minutes.

How many sessions before I see results?
After the 5th injection session you will note that your skin looks healthier. Between 8th and the 10th session, you will appreciate that your subcutaneous tissue is firmer, even though you may think there is more cellulite; this is due to the disappearing of cellulite in some areas and not in others. Before the end of the treatment program uniformity of your tissues will be achieved. This process is aided by regular application of mlis cell u rid lotion at home.

How long do the benefits last?
Most of the benefits last about 5 to 6 months, although there is a long term residual effect. We recommend a maintenance treatment every 6-8 weeks,
your therapist will plan a maintenance program to suit your lifestyle and work schedule.

What are the therapeutic effects of the CO2?
The CO2 has a strong vasodilatory effect at the microcirculation level (arterioles and capillaries), increasing the blood flow in the adipose and muscle tissue. Furthermore, in its presence the haemoglobin liberates more oxygen. It also has a mechanical effect on the adipose cells, leading to their destruction.

How does the CO2 work?
Firstly, and quite simply carbon dioxide mechanically kills fat cells. Secondly, it also causes dilation of blood vessels in the area. Wider vessels mean bigger and stronger blood flow to the area, which means more oxygen. The increase in oxygen is important because it eliminates the built up fluid from between the cells. The end result is fewer fat cells and firmer tissue.

More technically...Through the therapeutic effects mentioned, the morphology and function on the microcirculation are re-established increasing the amount and velocity of capillary blood flow; reducing the accumulation of fluids between the cells, reducing fat under the skin, and reducing fibrosis.

Does the CO2 have any toxic effects on the body?

No, CO2 is normally produced by our cells as a consequence of metabolism, and is eliminated through the lungs. Therefore, it could be considered as an "ecological" therapeutic agent.

Can Carboxytherapy be combined with other forms of treatments?
Yes, at the doctor's discretion it can be combined with treatments such as external ultrasound, endermology, and some medications. Carboxytherapy can help improve the results of liposuction, especially where there is loose skin.

At Aesthetica you will have a personal consultation with your doctor and therapist, who will map out a program that is designed to suit your health, skin condition and may include dietary advice and planning, detox and body wraps. You may also be more suited to a radio frequency program like Accent, this will be discussed at your consultation. Also a selection of mlis take home products may be advised to help achieve the result you desire.
